Sports in training for recovery return

Sport and Recreation Victoria has published updated guidelines and resources to support sport and recreation organisations returning to play as (or when) restrictions ease off across the State.

The Department said it had also updated the return to play information hub for community sport with a full suite of resources and frequently asked questions.

“As well as a new set of simple and easy to understand fact sheets for players, coaches, clubs and facility operators, and volunteers,” the Department said, “the fact sheets outline the latest updates to restrictions while providing some tips on how players and staff can stay safe while returning to training and key information for clubs and facility operators.”

The Department said the easing of restrictions would mean Victorians could begin to get back to the sport and recreation activities they loved, however it was important they all stuck to physical distancing restrictions to slow the spread of coronavirus.

It said the eased restrictions, which came into effect this week, applied to the whole State except metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire which remained under Stage Three restrictions.

It said outdoor and indoor sports venues and physical recreational facilities could open.

“If you live outside metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire, you cannot travel into these areas to exercise or for outdoor recreation,” it said.

It said swimming pools, playcentres and outdoor physical recreation groups could all open and run with a maximum of 20 people.

Further information about return to play for community sport outside the concerned areas can be accessed at this PS News link.
