The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has announced the reopening of Mount Yarrowyck Nature Reserve, Mother of Ducks Nature Reserve and parts of Oxley Wild Rivers National Park.
Area Manager at NPWS, Aaron Simmon said visitor precincts now open within Oxley Wild Rivers included: Wollomombi Falls; Gara Gorge; Bluehole picnic area; Dangars Falls (near Armidale); and Apsley Falls.
Mr Simmon said the locations had not been directly impacted by fire and posed no current threat to the public.
“However, many parts of Oxley Wild Rivers have been affected and will remain closed until it is deemed safe for people to return,” Mr Simmon said.
“We are seeing good signs of recovery throughout the region due to some rain which has also aided firefighting efforts,” he said.
“We are all hopeful that our wonderful waterfalls and rivers will run again soon for all to enjoy.”
Mr Simmon said that in the coming weeks and months, NPWS would continue to review park closures and visitor safety.
“In the meantime, please abide by the existing park closure as they are there for your own safety,” he said.
