The Territory is to subsidise more than 40 additional qualifications next financial year to help address skills gaps in renewable energy, tourism, advanced manufacturing and transport sectors.
Releasing the 2022-23 ACT Skills Needs List, Minister for Skills, Chris Steel said the List informed the scope of qualifications subsidised by the Territory, and subsidy levels for Government-funded training.
“This list is built on a detailed understanding of emerging industries and areas of skills need, to make sure we’re investing in the right areas of vocational education and training,” Mr Steel said.
“The 2022-23 ACT Skills Needs List was developed through an updated direct consultation approach, seeking direct feedback from local employers about their current gaps and growth needs,” he said.
“Over the coming months the ACT Government will be engaging with more growth sectors in the technology industries, building and construction industries, caring industries and the experience industries to develop detailed action plans for strengthening skills and workforce development.”
Mr Steel said the 2022-23 Skills Needs List contained 121 qualifications, covering approximately 175 occupations across all industries, and would help improve outcomes for both employers and job seekers.
The Minister said some of the new qualifications appearing on the list were Certificate III in Renewable Energy – ELV; Certificate IV in Electrical – Renewable Energy; Diploma of Outdoor Leadership; Certificate IV in Supply Chain Operations; Diploma of Engineering – Advanced Trade; and Diploma of Logistics.
