Movements at Defence

Appointments to a number of senior positions in the Australian Defence Force have been announced with the Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Angus Campbell (pictured) named as the next Chief of the Defence Force.

LTGEN Campbell will replace Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin at the end of his appointment in July with Major General Rick Burr relacing LTGEN Campbell as Chief of Army.

In other moves, the Chief of Joint Operations, Vice Admiral David Johnston is to become Vice Chief of the Defence Force when the present Vice Chief, Vice Admiral Ray Griggs retires in July.

Air Vice Marshal Mel Hupfeld is to replace VADM Johnston as Chief of Joint Operations.

Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Tim Barrett is also to retire in July and will be replaced by Rear Admiral Mike Noonan.

Chief of Air Force Air Marshal Leo Davies is to continue to serve in his current position.
