Kent to Crime Coordinator
Australian Federal Police Deputy Commissioner Karl Kent (pictured) has been appointed the first Coordinator of Commonwealth Transnational Serious and Organised Crime.
Housed within the Department of Home Affairs, the Coordinator will lead the national effort to combat threats posed by transnational serious and organised crime.
Mr Kent will also oversee the establishment of the Government’s recently announced Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation.
He will be supported by the Department of Home Affairs, the Australian Federal Police, the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre and the Australian Border Force.
Committee for telco review
The committee to undertake the next review of telecommunications services in regional, rural and remote areas has been appointed.
The Regional Telecommunications Independent Review Committee is convened every three years and the members are Sean Edwards (Chair), Wendy Duncan, Johanna Plante, Robbie Sefton, Kylie Stretton and Paul Weller.
