Are we there yet?….is the refrain of the littlies in the backseat of the car heading for wherever as frazzled parents count up the distance not yet travelled.
And it is the same for the voting public as yet again the election caravanserai circles the country, blathers on about the same stuff ad infinitum and the voters decide to get in as early as possible.
And then we get the ‘Debates’.
A unique form of blathering that never really answers the question.
Well we’re nearly there but in the fading last days the things I want answered still linger long after the protagonists have moved on.
When will electricity and gas prices come down and when will wages get a kick along and how the dickens do families afford child-care?
That’s for starters. Then it’s all about owning your own home, caring for the elderly, the best education and the best hospitals.
Simple really, get those right and we’re onto what people care about.
The drought we can’t fix but we can protect our waterways better than has been done and we can vote for people who genuinely care for this country.
The Agriculture Debate told me little of the future protection for the land and a lot about the way politicians deal with the problems and I reckon it’s time to listen to the kids who’ve let us know they want action on climate change.
Vote for the kids. It’s their country too.
