Brixton Alley are an English trio who were on tour in Australia at the beginning of 2020 when the pandemic hit.

They found themselves stranded in Melbourne and after a while they relocated to Brisbane where they quickly established themselves as one of the hottest acts on the Queensland scene and they developed a strong and loyal fan base.

They are so much at home there that they’ve decided not to return to Britain but instead have adopted Australia as their preferred home.

Now they’ve released their first single as an ‘Australian’ band.

See You Later was produced by Brock Weston (Bugs, Beddy Rays) and it’s jammed full of catchy hooks, snazzy guitar riffs, and helter-skelter vocals.

It’s a classic high energy piece of Britpop but with an edge of Aussie pub rock.

Speaking about the local influence on the band Brixton Alley’s front man Jonny Margo commented:

“One thing I can say for sure is how the Australian music scene has influenced our music over the last couple of years. We’ve taken a lot of inspiration from what Australian artists are doing and how the scene, in general, has grown.”

Despite lockdowns and other restrictions Brixton Alley clocked up more than 80 gigs last year and now that border restrictions are easing they’ll be expanding their horizons beyond their Brisbane base.

They are also planning to get back into the studio and are working on an EP aiming for a release some time mid-year.

Given the quality of this single the EP should be worth checking out.

Brixton Alley’s story is a bit of a fairy tale, landing in the right place at the right time (Brisbane remained open far longer than all other eastern state cities) and the fairy tale is sure to continue because the boys have the goods to succeed.

See You Later is amazingly catchy, check it out.
