The Education Directorate has opened its School Satisfaction and Climate survey for 2020, giving students, school staff, parents and carers the opportunity to have a say in shaping their schools.
The Directorate said the survey results were used to inform the school improvement process and identify what schools were doing well and how they could improve.
“This year it’s even easier to give feedback, with the survey available on any mobile device,” the Directorate said.
“In previous years, the survey has shown high levels of satisfaction across public schools, with 2019 data showing that 85 per cent of parents/carers, 90 per cent of staff and 74 per cent of students were satisfied with public education in the ACT,” it said.
“Key elements of school climate include school identification, academic emphasis, a sense of shared mission, and rules and processes in the school, which are all important indicators of educational outcomes and quality of the learning environment.”
The Directorate said the data also provided an overall picture of public education in the ACT.
“The climate module forming part of a longitudinal study (is) being conducted in partnership with researchers at the Australian National University (ANU),” it said.
It said the survey was open until 31 August.
