The Education Directorate has made some minor changes to school operations for the ACT’s public schools this term as it continues to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Directorate said changes for Term Three related to use of the Check In CBR app and interstate excursions.
“We are asking adults – parents, carers and visitors – to use the Check In CBR app when they enter school grounds,” the Directorate said.
“The general rule is that if leave your vehicle and enter school grounds, find a QR code and check in,” it said.
“Taking a moment to check in will make contact tracing far easier if we have a confirmed case at a school.”
The Directorate said it had mandated that most interstate excursions did not proceed due to the recent outbreaks in Australia and the risk posed by travel, however, lower risk camps and excursions to the local area could still go ahead.
“While students may be disappointed not to go further afield, this will mean some excursions can proceed because the destinations are lower risk and geographically closer, and that groups can return quickly by road travel if needed,” it said.
“The recent cases across Australia are a reminder of the importance of this.”
The Directorate said masks weren’t required to be worn by students and staff in school, but it encouraged staff, parent volunteers and students aged 13 and over to wear masks when visiting a crowded indoor venue off-campus.
