The annual School Support Staff Recognition Week (SSSRW) is being celebrated this week with the Together Union playing a leading role.

Welcoming the week, the union said schools and their communities faced many challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, but thanks to the essential work of support staff, students had been able to continue to have access to great education.

“You do it because you care about our communities and the wellbeing of students and staff alike,” the union said.

“School Support Staff make such a valuable contribution to education,” it said.

The union said it had a number of online resources including Facebook frames, email signatures and posters that could be used to remind others about SSSRW.

It also reminded support staff that QSuper was offering a school support staff worker a chance to win $1,000 for their school and $200 for themselves in recognition of the impact that they have on their school.

“Nominate a colleague for the QSuper SSSRW competition and share it with your school community, family and friends so you can be nominated too,” the union said.

It called on support staff to send it photos of how they were celebrating the week.

“Send your photos to ‘[email protected]’ or post your photos on social media with the tag #SSSRW2020,” the union said.
