The ACT Education Directorate has opened enrolments for the 2023 school year for pre-schoolers through to Year 12s.

The Directorate said it has also taken the opportunity to announce the addition some changes to Priority Enrolment Areas (PEA) which will include the Evelyn Scott School High School, a new PEA ‘Shared Zone’ to support enrolment at primary schools in the high growth area of Molonglo, and an update to an existing PEA in Gungahlin.

“Get online to find your local school and discover what makes them great,” the Directorate said.

“Some schools are holding information sessions in the coming weeks and they are a great way of finding out more about your local school,” it said.

“You can also contact the school if you have additional questions.”

The Directorate said it would host a series of information sessions on enrolment options and transition support for students with disability.

It said children who turn four on or before 30 April 2023 could start preschool on the first day of Term 1.

“Every four-year-old is guaranteed 15 hours of high-quality preschool education a week,” the Directorate said.

“Families are encouraged to apply for the preschool for their local primary school, however it is not possible to guarantee a place at your local or preferred preschool due to capacity constraints at some sites.

“Preschool places are not allocated on a first come first served basis.”

The Directorate said parents and carers should apply to enrol their children online by 3 June to receive a placement offer from 25 July.

“Applications made after 3 June will receive an offer later in the year,” it said.
