Nominations are now open for the 2021 Comcare National Work Health and Safety Awards.
The awards recognise and reward excellence in workplace health and safety as well as returns to work achieved by employers and individuals operating across Comcare’s scheme.
Comcare is seeking entries that highlight outstanding success in the theme Creating a Safer Workplace Together, under one of four categories: Prevention Award; Early Intervention Award; Recovery at and Return to Work Award; and Individual Contribution Award.
The awards will be presented at an evening event in May 2021 at the National Convention Centre in Canberra.
In a statement, Comcare said entries were open to employers and individuals operating across Comcare’s scheme.
“Nominations should reflect activities above and beyond best practice against each of the criteria in the relevant award category,” it said.
It said individuals and organisations should nominate because it was important to receive public acknowledgement for commitment to and excellence in workplace health and safety, or recovery at and return to work, as an example to others.
“Entries will be assessed by a judging panel and shortlisted entrants will be interviewed,” it said.
“If your entry is shortlisted, you will be contacted by Comcare staff and you will be invited to an interview which will take place in February 2021.
“Following the interviews, the judging panel will make its recommendations to the Awards Steering Committee for final endorsement.”
The Agency said finalists would be informed and promoted as part of Comcare marketing activities before the announcement of the winners on 18 May 2021.
The closing date for nominations is 22 November and the eight-page nomination brochure can be accessed at this PS News link.
