Safe Work Australia has issued a draft proposal for amending the rules relating to airborne contamination in the workplace and is seeking comment from the community.
The Agency has released a draft evaluation report and recommendations for the Workplace Exposure Standards for Airborne Contaminants to ensure they are based on the highest quality evidence and supported by a rigorous scientific approach.
While all comments are welcome, Safe Work Australia is in particular seeking input of a technical nature regarding the toxicological information and data that the value is based upon and the measurement and analysis information provided.
In a statement, Safe Work Australia said the feedback received would be considered when making the final recommendations regarding the Workplace Exposure Standards.
“Your feedback is important to us and will ensure the workplace exposure standards meet the needs of contemporary Australian workplaces,” the Agency said.
“The recommended workplace exposure standards are health-based recommendations by expert consultants using the streamlined methodology developed by Safe Work Australia and have been independently peer reviewed.”
Comments on the draft proposal are due by 30 April.
