WorkSafe has reminded employers and staff that the October Safe Work Month is rolling round again.
“Each year in October we encourage employers and workers to promote positive work health and safety in the workplace,” WorkSafe – which comes under the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety – said in a statement.
“This year’s theme is Staying Focused on Workplace Health and Safety.”
WorkSafe said that while 2020 had involved many challenges, Safe Work Month still needed to remind industry and the community that the health and safety of Western Australian workers remained a priority.
“The event will feature a virtual program of activities with on-demand video presentations covering issues from dangerous goods safety, mines safety and the activities of WorkSafe itself,” the Agency said.
“There will also be live-stream question-and-answer sessions from industry experts.”
It said safety and health representatives, managers, supervisors, safety professionals and workers in all industry sectors were encouraged to register.
The Department said that while a number of traditional events were on hold, it continued to work with industry to reduce serious accidents and incidents, and provide tangible support in achieving a positive cultural change.
