The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) has launched an online toolkit to assist sporting organisations return to the playing field as the Coronavirus pandemic restrictions are slowly lifted.
Acting Chief Executive of Sport Australia, Rob Dalton said the Institute’s Return to Sport Toolkit was developed with checklists to give community clubs and volunteers guidance.
“They are adaptable for small to large organisations, with templates that everyone can customise to their own circumstances,” Mr Dalton said.
“We have, of course, made recommendations to try and ensure the safest sporting environments,” he said.
“We recommend, if possible, that one parent or guardian attend along with each child as sport resumes.”
Mr Dalton said AIS’s key priorities for a return to community sport were supporting sporting administrators, many of them volunteers and winning back sporting participants.
“Let’s bust some myths about the Return to Sport Toolkit,” he said.
“I can assure you, grandparents are not banned from watching their grandkids play sport.”
He said the Toolkit was not designed to burden millions of sporting volunteers with rules and red tape, but to give a helping hand and peace of mind for a safe and successful return to sport at all levels.
