SA Water has announced that community groups can now apply for up to $10,000 in funding to host events or projects at the State’s reservoir reserves which are open for recreational access.
General Manager of Strategy, Engagement and Innovation at SA Water, Anna Jackson said the Reservoirs Partnership Program offered financial support to not-for-profit organisations looking to connect communities with nature and recreation at the reservoir reserves.
Ms Jackson said the program fostered opportunities for community partnerships to further activate these open spaces.
“South Australia’s reservoir reserves are places of spectacular beauty combining adventure and fun, and by partnering with local community groups, we’ll deliver a range of fresh initiatives that enhance visitor experience and provide everyone with a chance to enjoy them,” she said.
“We’re looking for groups with a concept for an event or project that champions conservation of the environment, outdoor recreation, or helps educate communities on the importance of our natural environment and water sources.”
Ms Jackson said the program’s 2020-21 first round was popular and included a new community kayaking venture; an adventure race; a ‘come and try’ experience for people of all abilities to enjoy the reservoir reserves; and an outdoor adventure program for disadvantaged youth.
She said a volunteering program was also underway, with interested community members urged to get involved to help enhance the conservation and recreational offerings.
Applications for the Reservoirs Partnership Program close at midnight Tuesday 28 September and further information can be accessed at this PS News link, while information about the volunteering program can be found at this link.
