Australian born brothers, Joel and Luke Smallbone, who are based in Nashville, are For King & Country and they are forging an impressive career for themselves via a series of chart-topping singles.
They originally started as a Christian pop duo with country music leanings however, they have crossed over to the mainstream pop charts and are now one of the biggest selling acts ever to emanate from our shores.
Their last single, Amen, was their sixth successive single to reach number one from their Grammy winning album Burn The Ships and I can see no reason why Relate, their latest release, won’t follow suit.
The boys have had nine number one singles overall, and Burn The Ships was an RIAA Gold certified album, so their success is no fluke.
Relate is a song that calls out for us to unite in troubled times, to show compassion and empathy and recognise our similarities rather than focussing on our differences.
The chorus says it all: “I don’t know what it’s like to be you, you don’t know what it’s like to be me, but what if we’re all the same in different kinds of ways, can you relate?”
The band recently performed the song on nationally syndicated morning talk show Fox & Friends in the USA and are set to do their first 24 show arena tour in two years thanks to President Biden’s vaccine rollout.
Apparently, a new studio album is on the way and the tour will be an opportunity to introduce their new material to their fans.
The boys’ career has taken them into writing and acting in film and collaborations with an array of megastars, including Dolly Parton.
Although they left our shores when they were children we’ll still claim them as Aussies.
