Recovery roadmap revealed to roll COVID

People holding out against vaccination are to be subject to lockdown rules until December under the State’s new roadmap for easing COVID-19 restrictions.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said that once 80 per cent of people over the age of 16 received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, eased restrictions would allow fully vaccinated people up to 10 guests in their home, participate in community sport and access hospitality venues.

Ms Berejiklian said the 80 per cent roadmap would also remove the limit of fully vaccinated guests for weddings and funerals with personal services would no longer be subject to customer caps.

She said that following updated health advice, adjustments were made to the 70 per cent roadmap with regional travel now off the table until the State hits the 80 per cent vaccination target.

Deputy Premier John Barilaro said the changes to incoming international arrival caps were being considered so that more people could return home for Christmas.

“Government’s 70 per cent roadmap lifts fully vaccinated people out of lockdown and when we reach 80 per cent, restrictions will ease even further,” Mr Barilaro said.

“The key continues to be vaccination rates, so please do not hesitate and book in for your free COVID-19 vaccine today so we can reach these targets as soon as possible,” he said.

“I must also clarify that travel between Greater Sydney and regional NSW will only be permitted when the State reaches 80 per cent double dose.”

Mr Barilaro said the change was necessary to give some regional areas the time they needed to increase local vaccination rates.

He said further changes would be introduced from 1 December including all venues moving to the 2sqm rule; masks no longer required indoors at offices; indoor pools and nightclubs to reopen; and unvaccinated people would have greater freedoms.
