Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) collection sites for COVID-19 close contacts have begun opening across the State.
Announced by Premier Steven Marshall, RAT collection sites at metro locations at Port Adelaide, Charles Sturt and Onkaparinga opened at the end of last week.
Mr Marshall said the new metro sites would complement the supersite in the South Parklands and a series of other regional locations, including Murray Bridge and Port Augusta which opened last Tuesday.
He said South Australia received 456,000 RATs last Monday, with deliveries of 256,000 expected every day until 26 January and a shipment of 3.6 million expected in early February.
The Premier said the RAT collection sites would provide two free tests for people who were considered close contacts and allow an increase in the number of tests taken to get a clearer picture of how many COVID-positive people were in the community.
“If you don’t have immediate access to a RAT test and you are a close contact, or have symptoms, South Australians are advised to use one of the more than 80 PCR testing sites throughout the State,” he said.
He said RAT collection sites were already open in the Riverland collection site – Old Glossop High School; South Parklands Supersite; Port Augusta – Central Oval, 10 Augusta Tce; Murray Bridge – Murray Bridge Showgrounds; Mount Gambier – Vansittart Park, Commercial St, West Gambier; Port Adelaide/Enfield LGA; Charles Sturt Council LGA; Naracoorte – Naracoorte Showgrounds, Smith St; and Onkaparinga Council LGA.
Sites due to open soon include Playford Council LGA; Mount Barker Council LGA; and Salisbury LGA.
People identified as a close contact must register on the SA Health website, which can be accessed at this PS News link.
