The Crisafulli Government is delivering new resources to the Queensland Fire Department, updating facilities, equipment and vehicles, in addition to other measures.

In a concerted push to give firefighters the resources they need, more than $74 million has been delivered to the Queensland Fire Department for new fire stations and land acquisition, in addition to more than $50 million for new or replacement vehicles.

Beerwah, Gympie South, Caloundra, Boonah and Greater Springfield will benefit from new or replacement stations, while the regional areas of Abbot Point, Bell Town and Mount Ossa will receive new Rural Fire Service stations.

Of the more than $50 million allocated for vehicles for 2025-26, $25.7 million will go to urban jurisdictions, while $23.7 million will benefit the Rural Fire Service. Some $13 million for new stations is earmarked for rural jurisdictions.

In addition to funding for equipment and station upgrades, the government has announced that $15.7 million will support paid and volunteer firefighters’ access to workers’ compensation.

“The Crisafulli Government is committed to restoring essential services and repairing the damage left by Labor’s decade of mismanagement,” Fire, Disaster Recovery and Volunteers Minister Ann Leahy said.

“For too long, Labor neglected the people who protect us, but the Crisafulli Government is backing Queensland’s frontline heroes with real funding, new resources, and a newfound respect.

“Under Labor, Queensland’s firies were being forced to work in outdated stations with ageing equipment, but the Crisafulli Government will always put our hardworking firefighters and their communities first.”
