The Department of Energy and Public Works has announced that with the help of public sector employees, the Queensland Shared Services (QSS) Self Service Centre (SSC) homepage has been redesigned.

In a statement, the Department said the SSC was a one-stop shop for QSS customers to submit finance, HR and system support requests.

“The aim is to make it easier than ever to complete these transactions by simplifying the way you find forms and submit requests,” the Department said.

“The Customer Experience Design Team used a human-centred design approach to redesign the SSC.

“This is a creative approach to problem solving and puts the end user at the heart of the solution.”

It said that by discovering who the target audience was and designing a solution around its needs, users could enable a solution that worked for their particular context.

As part of this process, the Customer Experience Design Team conducted research and workshops with the outcomes being used to identify the knowledge and needs of SSC users.

Finally content designers, web developers and employees experienced in using the SSC completed a survey containing some of the research from the previous phase.

“This determined which SSC homepage areas needed to be focused on,” the Department said.

In collaboration with the QSS Performance Build team, two viable prototypes were developed and are to be tested from 1 February.

People interested in testing the prototypes can register their interest at this PS News link.
