The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) has announced that its campaign website for the 2019 Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) is now up and running.

In a newsletter, OAIC said the website contained information about its theme, events, resources and designed assets.

“Our key message is Don’t be in the Dark on Privacy,” the OAIC said.

Over the week we will shine a light on five privacy priorities.

“We hope that this allows organisations and supporters to highlight their privacy priorities during their PAW activities.”

The Office said events for the week included the PAW Business Breakfast to be held on 13 May at the Westin, Sydney.

“For this year’s event, the Australian Information Commissioner and Privacy Commissioner, Angelene Falk, and a panel of privacy and cyber experts will discuss how privacy obligations and data breaches are changing the way we do business in the global economy,” it said.

The event Master of Ceremonies will be futurist, inventor, author and educator, Mark Pesce with the panellists: Nick Abrahams (Global Head of Technology and Innovation at Norton Rose Fulbright ); Richard Buckland (Professor in Cyber-Crime, Cyber-War and Cyber-Terror at the University of NSW) and Sheila FitzPatrick (Data Privacy Expert from cyber-security consultant, elevenM).

More information about Privacy Awareness Week to run from 12 to 18 May can be accessed on the OAIC website at this PS News link.
