The National Capital Authority is pushing ahead with its strategic priorities, and it wants to tell you all about them.
The public is invited to an NCA community forum on Thursday, 14 November, to be held at the National Library of Australia to learn about its work to shape the national capital.
Chief executive Karen Doran will brief the public on the NCA’s plans and priorities for the capital and will take questions about the NCA’s work and future direction.
“The NCA plays an important role in fostering Canberra as a great place to live, work and visit, and a national capital of which all Australians can be proud of,” Ms Doran said.
“The community forum is a demonstration of our commitment to considered, well-planned and proactive community engagement as an integral part of our work.”
The forum will include an update on the implementation of the NCA’s Statement of Intent, which sets in action a new operating framework for the agency.
That includes the aim for more transparent planning and approval processes.
Federal Territories Minister Kristy McBain said inviting the public to the forum is part of the Federal Government’s commitment for the NCA to engage the community in its work to plan, manage and promote Canberra as the national capital.
“We’re committed to the NCA operating with transparency and accountability, and this forum is a great opportunity for the Canberra community to learn more about the agency’s role and priorities for the national capital,” the Minister said.
“Canberrans want to be part of the ongoing development of their national capital, which is why we’re ensuring the NCA increases its community and stakeholder engagement, including with this important face-to-face forum.”
The NCA and the ACT Government share responsibility for the further planning and development of the Territory, with the NCA responsible for the Commonwealth’s ongoing interest in the planning of nationally significant parts of Canberra.
The ACT Government is responsible for Territory planning for the residents of Canberra.
Members of the public can register to attend the forum through the NCA’s website.
