The Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) has invited input on common terms and conditions for the proposed introduction of service-wide bargaining before the Australian Public Service (APS) begins taking initial steps to reduce pay fragmentation across the APS.
In an open letter to the APS, Deputy Commissioner (Workplace Relations Bargaining Taskforce) at APSC, Peter Riordan has detailed the Commission’s progress towards service-wide bargaining for common terms and conditions.
“I am reaching out to you directly because I want to ensure that all APS employees have the opportunity to contribute to the development of this very important process,” Deputy Commissioner Riordan said.
“I therefore want to hear from you about your views and priorities for APS bargaining and invite you to have your say.”
He said the APSC had been consulting with Agencies and unions, and was now seeking PS staff members’ views via a short survey.
“The survey seeks your views about what employment conditions matter the most to you, and what conditions you consider should be standardised across the APS,” Deputy Commissioner Riordan said.
“The information collected will inform the development of the comprehensive workplace relations policy to guide APS service-wide bargaining,” he said.
“An email with a short survey has been sent to you. If you did not receive it, and you are an APS employee, please ask a colleague to forward it to you or email [email protected].”
Deputy Commissioner Riordan said the survey, open until 3 February, was anonymous and would take less than five minutes to complete.
