The Public Sector Commissioner has announced a new review program to drive excellence and improvement in public sector Agencies.
Commissioner, Sharyn O’Neill (pictured) said the Agency Capability Review Program was to be trialed over the next two years in eight Government Departments.
Ms O’Neill said the Program supported each Agency’s own approach to improvement.
“Excellence and continuous improvement are incredibly important in the public sector where our people deliver vital services to business, industry, the community, families and individuals,” she said.
“A trained review team, led by an independent reviewer, looks at each Agency’s current capability and identifies areas of good performance as well as areas for improvement.”
Ms O’Neill said this would give Agency leaders clear evidence to make decisions on where to focus efforts for maximum improvement.
“This important initiative is necessary to assure the community and the Government that Agencies funded through the public purse are delivering what is expected of them,” she said.
“At the end of the trial, the program will be evaluated to determine if it has met its objectives.”
The Commissioner said an Agency Capability and Improvement Division was being set up to support the Program.
“Recruitment for a number of key roles is starting soon with jobs advertised on Jobs WA,” Ms O’Neill said.
