PS staff to attract new APS staff

Employees of the Australian Public Service (APS) are being called on to help position the Service as an employer of choice for current and prospective employees.

Issuing the call, the Australian Public Service Commission’s (APSC) Future of Work Taskforce said it was seeking nominations from employees to attend one of several co-design sessions in April and May.

“We are looking for ongoing and non-ongoing employees from across all locations, functions and classification levels to come together to share your stories and experiences of working in the APS,” the Taskforce said.

“This will help develop the APS Employee Value Proposition (EVP),” it said.

“A strong EVP sends a clear, consistent and authentic message about the experience of working in an organisation.

“It helps attract, engage and retain employees in a competitive employment market.”

The Taskforce said the APS EVP would help it understand and share what employees liked best about working in the sector.

It said the EVP would also help build the diversity of the workforce by drawing out the perspectives of people from all backgrounds.

The Taskforce said the APSC, with Services Australia, was hosting half-day, in-person co-design sessions in Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra in April, as well as additional virtual sessions to be held in early May.

“Participants can be from any function, classification, discipline or location, but you must be ongoing or non-ongoing APS employees,” it said.

“The most important thing is that you come willing and prepared to collaborate and contribute within a co-design environment.

“If this sounds like you, please first discuss your interest and your capacity to be released with your manager, before submitting your nomination to participate in a co-design session.”

The Taskforce said nominations could be submitted via an online form until 12 April.

The form can be accessed at this PS News link.
