Finalists in the Prime Minister’s Veterans Employment Awards have been announced, with the Public Service featuring prominently among those making the final cut.
The Australian Taxation Office’s Open Doors Program was named as a finalist in the division for ‘Public Sector Excellence in Supporting Veteran Employment’ along with the ACT Public Service and the Victorian Government’s Veteran Employment Program.
Minister for Veterans and Defence Personnel, Darren Chester said the finalists demonstrated how veterans were excelling in the civilian workforce.
“These finalists represent a variety of organisations in a range of industries that have seen the incredible value in hiring veterans as part of their business and they should be congratulated on their support of veterans and their families,” Mr Chester said.
He said there were a record 129 nominations for the 2020 Awards, the most in the awards’ three-year history.
He said finalists were selected from large, medium and small businesses across a range of industries and professions.
Each category will be assessed by a three-member judging panel.
“Judges are independent and impartial and include senior representatives from Australian business, former Australian Defence Force members and senior representations from the Australian Public Service,” Mr Chester said.
The Awards ceremony is set to be held in Canberra in March and a full list of finalists can be accessed at this PS News link.
