The Department of Human Services (DHS) has announced that teachers, school site staff and Years 11 and 12 students are being given priority access to COVID-19 Pfizer vaccinations during the school holidays at its Highgate Park Clinic in Fullarton.
The Department said priority vaccinations during the school holidays (until 8 October) applied to workers at schools, preschools or children’s centres and students aged 16 and over undertaking Years 11 or 12 studies.
The DHS said the clinic, at 103 Fisher Street, Fullarton, was open from 9am to 4pm Monday, Tuesday and Friday and noon to 8pm Wednesday and Thursday.
It said the clinic was closed on weekends.
The Department said the clinic would continue to offer vaccinations beyond the school holidays to all people aged 16 and over.
It said walk-in opportunities were among the clinic’s significant expansion over coming months as it started vaccinating anyone aged 16 and over from Tuesday 28 September, however, there may be a waiting period at times.
“This is an important step to boost vaccination efforts across SA schools, where young children can’t be vaccinated at the moment,” it said.
“Increased vaccination rates can help reduce risks during a possible COVID-19 outbreak,” the DHS said.
