PlanSA has revealed that members of the public can now view the status of all proposed amendments to the Planning and Design Code through an online map viewer.
In its July Newsletter Edition 44 PlanSA said the new Code Amendment Map Viewer was designed to make information about proposals to amend the Code easily accessible and support community participation early in the planning process.
It also encouraged the public to provide feedback online.
According to PlanSA this would ensure communities had a greater opportunity to have their say in the development of the State’s planning policy.
The Agency said the new planning system would be designed to achieve greater community involvement in planning and use technology to assist the community to interact with the system.
It said the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 placed the emphasis on engaging communities early, when the rules such as the Planning and Design Code and other regulatory instruments were being developed, rather than at the later stages of the planning process, when it may be too late to influence outcomes.
PlanSA said the online map viewer could be used to monitor the status of all Code amendments that had been initiated or that were on public consultation.
