ACT Policing is encouraging Canberra residents to keep up their good work and maintain COVID-19 vigilance as borders reopen over the school holidays.

Member of the force’s COVID-19 Taskforce, Inspector Rachel Hutka said recent border announcements were a testament to the efforts of all Canberrans.

“Thanks to our excellent COVID compliance record, ACT residents are now able to travel to South Australia and Queensland,” Inspector Hutka said.

“Anyone heading interstate over the school holidays is reminded to remain vigilant and follow the health directions of the jurisdiction they are in,” she said.

“Together we can ensure the ACT stays COVID-safe and open for travel.”

Inspector Hutka said people attending school holiday activities should be sure to book ahead and follow proper hygiene practices.

“While the holidays are also a great opportunity for families to come together, I’d encourage everyone to be mindful of the risks close gatherings can pose for certain members of the ACT community,” she said.

“Consider what health precautions you can take during visits.”

Inspector Hutka said ACT Policing would continue to work with Access Canberra and ACT Health to conduct compliance patrols throughout the school holiday period.

ACT Policing encouraged residents to download the Check In CBR app to help businesses meet and monitor their contact tracing obligations.
