City Services has kicked off consultation on playground upgrades across the city and is calling for community input.
Welcoming the opening of consultation, Minister for Transport and City Services, Chris Steel said Canberrans were invited to provide feedback on the design and location of four upgraded playgrounds in Aranda, Ngunnawal, Chisholm and Gordon.
“We know Canberrans love their local playgrounds, so we’re making these important community hubs even better,” Mr Steel said.
He said possible locations for playgrounds for consideration included those on Banambila Street and Jalanga Crescent in Aranda; Alston Street (South) in Chisholm; Point Hut District Park in Gordon; and Burramarra Avenue in Ngunnawal.
Opening consultation, City Services said the community could shape the play space upgrades by weighing in on the mix of new amenities and play opportunities they would like to see included.
It said the play spaces could feature a variety of new play equipment; amenities such as bike racks and furniture; safety and accessibility upgrades; as well as diverse play elements such as nature play, basketball hoops, fitness equipment and learn-to-ride tracks.
Mr Steel said consultation on further play space upgrades in Lyons and Kaleen would be undertaken later in the term.
