The National Capital Authority (NCA) has invited expressions of interest (EOI) for a semi-transportable food service kiosk at the recently completed Boundless Playground in Kings Park on the northern shores of Lake Burley Griffin.
Chief Executive of the NCA, Sally Barnes said the playground was a popular destination for locals and visitors to Canberra having been named in August as Canberra’s most visited playground.
“This added amenity will no doubt enhance the visitor experience, and creates an exciting business opportunity,” Ms Barnes said.
She said that under the management of the NCA, the site would undergo minor construction works, including the installation of essential services and some additional public amenities, including a deck platform and furniture.
“The site works will provide an area for the successful respondent to place a semi-transportable kiosk,” she said.
“The NCA understands the importance of this site and will place a strong emphasis on the design to ensure that it is in keeping with its environs.
“Having started this project as a Centenary of Canberra Project in 2012, Boundless is a wonderful all-inclusive playground that encourages play between all children regardless of abilities.”
Chair of the Boundless Board, Ross Barrett said it was great to see the EOI released and the final stage of the Boundless Canberra vision being realised.
Responses to the EOI are due by 23 November.
