The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) has put out a call for feedback on how to improve the regulatory standards of all taxis and rideshare operators.

In a statement, the Department said the review of regulation of the point to point (P2P) transport industry under the Passenger Transport Act 1994 would focus on improving the regulatory standards of all taxis and ridesource (rideshare) operators to ensure South Australians could expect a safe, clean and reliable ride, regardless of what transport provider they chose.

DIT said it was looking to gather a range of feedback information on Customer experiences travelling around the community using taxi, chauffeur and/or ridesourcing (rideshare) P2P transport services; and Driver, licence owner and operator experiences in providing P2P transport services.

“P2P transport is any service in a vehicle with 12 seats or less (including the driver) that can take customers on the route they choose, at the time that suits them, for a fare,” the Department said.

“This includes taxis, chauffeurs and ridesourcing (rideshare).

The Department said that to help inform the review it was seeking feedback about how P2P passenger transport should be regulated.

“The Government will consider all feedback provided to inform the next steps for the industry,” it said.

DIT said a 20-minute survey and written submissions would close on 1 August.

The survey can be accessed on the yourSAy website at this PS News link.
