Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has sent his recommendations for the parliamentary sitting calendar for the rest of 2025 to Governor-General Sam Mostyn.

The first scheduled sitting period for the 48th Parliament following the 3 May election will be from 22 July to 31 July, with both houses scheduled to be in session.

The next sitting period for both houses will be three weeks later, commencing on 25 August and concluding on 4 September.

From 7 to 9 October, just the House of Representatives will sit, while Supplementary Senate Estimates will be held from 7 to 13 October.

A further joint sitting will run from 27 October to 6 November, with an additional sitting week for both houses from 24 November to 27 November.

In total, the House of Representatives will sit for 30 days until the Christmas break, with the Senate two days more.

“I look forward to advancing the Government’s legislative agenda over the coming Parliamentary term,” Mr Albanese said.

“The reform program we took to the election was shaped by the priorities of the Australian people.”

The 2026 sitting calendar is expected to be announced before the end of the current sitting calendar year.
