Members of the public have been urged to visit Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) visitor centres in South-East Queensland or monitor the QPWS Park Alerts page if they plan to visit National Parks or State Forests.
QPWS said while the lockdown had been lifted in South-East Queensland, which included Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Moreton Bay, Redlands, Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Somerset, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim and the Gold Coast, some restrictions remained in place.
It said National Parks and forests continued to remain accessible for people who lived nearby for exercise, however, bookings for camping made during the lockdown period had been automatically cancelled and people would need to rebook.
The QPWS said those seeking to camp on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) or Mulgumpin (Moreton Island) should manage their booking via Minjerribah Camping and Mulgumpin Camping.
It said campers must continue to follow rules set down by the Department of Health and any refund request would be processed as quickly as possible.
The QPWS said the David Fleay Wildlife Park, Walkabout Creek Wildlife Centre, Daisy Hill Koala Centre and all QPWS counters had reopened after the lockdown.
The QPWS said it continued to follow the advice of Queensland’s Chief Health Officer to ensure the health and safety of staff, visitors and the wider Queensland community.
