Parks Victoria is continuing to undertake vital recovery works throughout winter to get bushfire-affected parks ready for spring visitation.
The Agency said works were progressing at the Buchan Caves Reserve with permanent bridge replacements under construction.
“Planning is also underway with joint managers, Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC), to consider improvements to the campground and roofed accommodation,” Parks Victoria said.
“At Cape Conran Coastal Park, the focus has been on reinstating day visitor areas and beach access points, while planning the installation of temporary visitor facilities to enable a basic camping offer for the spring school holidays,” it said.
“Works to reinstate beach access at Salmon Rocks is progressing well with reopening scheduled for late June.”
Parks Victoria said teams from the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning; Forest Fire Management Victoria; and GLaWAC had been busy in other areas of East Gippsland finalising fire damage assessments, undertaking essential maintenance, track clearing, demolitions and hazardous tree removal.
“The safety of our staff and visitors is our highest priority,” it said.
“The recovery works undertaken have been adjusted to ensure physical distancing and hygiene standards are maintained at all times.”
Parks Victoria urged locals and visitors to follow advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer and stay safe by adhering to physical distancing measures.
