Sydney’s Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is set to have its plan of management updated and the community is being asked to provide feedback on how this much-loved park should be managed.

Service Director for Greater Sydney National Parks and Wildlife, Deon van Rensburg said Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park was one of the most visited parks in NSW and the community could contribute on how it might be managed in the future.

“Prior to completing the new plan of management, five option papers are being released to gather early community feedback on protecting its important natural and cultural values,” Mr van Rensburg said.

“The discussion papers provide information and are designed to gather input from the community about some of the challenges and opportunities for the future management of park values and visitor use.”

He said the papers had been made available to encourage community involvement in the early stages of the plan’s preparation, exploring management approaches for Aboriginal cultural values; Natural and shared heritage values; Recreational activities; Visitor destinations; and Commercial activities and private interests.

“I would urge the community to take the opportunity to contribute knowledge and ideas and have your say on the future management of the Park,” Mr van Rensburg said.

He said the discussion papers would be available for public comment until 15 September.

Further details on the plans and consultation, including the five discussion papers, can be accessed on the Office of Environment and Heritage website at this PS News link.
