Transport NSW has launched a trial parking app to provide real-time occupancy information to drivers in search of a parking space at four Sydney train stations.
The Department said the app was active at Seven Hills, Kogarah, Ashfield and Manly Vale car parks.
“The trial enables customers to efficiently plan their journeys ahead of time and make informed decisions about whether to make alternative arrangements like walking, cycling, or catching public transport,” Transport NSW said.
“AnyTrip is the first third-party app developer to display real-time car park information to customers,” it said.
Transport NSW said people could see the parking feature by searching any of the four Opal Park&Ride train stations included in the trial.
The Minister for Transport, Andrew Constance used the launch of the app as an opportunity to remind Sydneysiders to “play it safe” around the new CBD and South East Light Rail ahead of passenger services commencing this week.
“Unfortunately, we are still seeing incredibly stupid behaviour around the tracks and it needs to stop,” Mr Constance said.
Mr Constance said light rail safety promotions had ramped up in recent weeks, while new ground markings were installed across intersections to deter motorists from queuing across the tracks and delaying trams.
The AnyTrip app is available on Google Play and Apple app store.
