The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is celebrating South Australia’s Park of the Month honour by hosting a range of activities in the parks this month.
Declared the winners Hallett Cove and Marino Conservation Parks along the coastline of Adelaide’s southern suburbs, NPWS said the aim of the Park of the Month award is to connect people with nature by activating park visitations through park events and experiences.
NPWS said the Park of the Month activities would include a guided snorkelling tour, forest bathing on the beach, a family nature walk, a guided accessibility walk and a nature drawing work shop.
NPWS Ranger, Courtney Heinjus said the activities would provide people with a great opportunity to check out the award-winning parks with other unique experiences on offer.
“There is so much to see and do, and the location of these parks makes them easy to access,” Ms Heinjus said.
“There are some great walking trails offering spectacular views of the coastline and the Adelaide metropolitan area,” she said.
“Hallett Cove Conservation Park is also home to globally significant geological features that tell the story of an ice age some 280 million years ago when glaciers travelled over the South Australian landscape.”
Ms Heinjus said the activities in February would include:
- Guided snorkelling tours of Hallett Cove Beach
- Forest bathing on the beach at Hallett Cove Conservation Park
- Guided Family Nature Walk in Hallett Cove Conservation Park
- Guided accessibility walk along the upgraded Botanical Trail in Marino Conservation Park
- Nature drawing workshop with SA artist Gilbert Dashorst in Marino Conservation Park
