The Community Services Directorate has unveiled a new e-learning course to support its Guide for keeping the ACT’s children and young people safe.
Minister for Children, Youth and Families, Rachel Stephen-Smith said that in 2017 Child and Youth Protection Services launched the Keeping Children and Young People Safe Guide designed to inform the community about the steps involved in reporting child abuse and neglect.
“An e-learning course has now been developed to support this Guide, providing a practical and interactive learning experience for members of the community who would like to learn more about child protection services and appropriate reporting for child abuse and neglect,” Ms Stephen-Smith said.
“Health and medical professionals, teachers and early childhood educators will benefit from the course.
“Other organisations were also encouraged to undertake the course as part of their staff training and induction requirements.”
She said the e-learning course would benefit not only professionals who worked with children, but members of the public as well.
“We all have a responsibility for keeping children and young people safe,” Ms Stephen-Smith said.
“This course is a great way for people to learn more about what to do if they have a genuine concern about the safety and wellbeing of a child or young person in their community,” she said.
