If a ticket to the address by PM Scott Morrison at the National Press Club was the place to be on a sultry Monday in the capital then punters had to be prepared for the surge of photographers, videographers and the ever present ABC cameras to be negotiated before they could enjoy their lunch and a somewhat predictable address.
If we have months more of this faux electioneering we’re going to be worn to a frazzle before it reaches a conclusion.
But to follow, the address by the shadow minister for Health, Catherine King, on the Wednesday was a walk in the park.
None of the usual suspects with tons of equipment and intent to photograph every nuance, every utterance and every promise. I know which I prefer.
But to round out the week, a Valentine’s Day dinner in Yarralumla for the always charming members of the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand had none of the romance and all of the congratulations the hard working award winners deserve.
With a welcome to three new members of the group and 25 and 40 year veterans of membership, it was a worthy bunch of accolades for those newly inducted.
Not a red rose insight but lots of good stories of the success of inductees and their families and respect for the camaraderie the peak body engenders among its membership.
