‘ON’ now on for young and old researchers

Researchers in public or publicly funded roles have been invited to apply their skills to Australia’s national security and defence efforts as part of a new program being run by Defence Science and Technology (DST).

Delivered in partnership with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), ON Prime: Defence will run nationally beginning in September, with applications being accepted until 13 July.

DST said the program was a part-time pre-accelerator experience that gave researchers an opportunity to fast-track their science or technology proposition with expert guidance from those who’ve been there and done it before.

It said successful applicants would be integrated with an ON Prime cohort in their closest capital city hub, as well as being invited to attend a national session designed for all ON Prime: Defence participants from across the country.

DST said that to apply, applicants needed to indicate they are on a research team working on a Defence technology.

It said all ON Prime accelerator experiences were open to teams with at least one research employee from CSIRO, Australian universities or Australia’s Publicly Funded Research Agencies (PFRAs).

DST said the research employee could be full-time, part-time or a casual employee of a PFRA.

It is free to participate, and all IP and equity would remain the property of the participating team or their sponsoring institute.
