The Ombudsman Western Australia has released his Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2020-2025.
In a statement accompanying the plan, the Ombudsman, Chris Field said accessibility and inclusion were absolutely central to the institution of the Ombudsman.
“Critically, our office is committed to providing optimum access and service to people with a disability, their families and carers,” Mr Field said.
“Our Disability Access and Inclusion Plan embodies our strategies to realise this commitment. “
He said his office would consider and use the plan in undertaking all its activities to ensure it continued to provide the access and inclusion that stakeholders rightly expected “and that we commit to deliver”.
Mr Field said he welcomed feedback on the plan “particularly from those who have accessed or are likely to access information and services from the organisation”.
He said comments would inform the ongoing management of the plan and the development of revised plans over time.
He said the Ombudsman served Parliament and Western Australians by investigating and resolving complaints about the decision-making of Government Agencies, Local Governments and universities.
The Ombudsman’s role is as an officer of the Parliament, independent of the Government of the day, with the ability to act impartially and fairly in all of its work.
