Health services around NSW are coming together to honour the work of the State’s nurses and midwives.
NSW Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Jacqui Cross said that with International Day of the Midwife last week and International Nurses Day yesterday (12 May), now was the perfect time to celebrate.
“Now more than ever, in these uncertain times, we should come together to celebrate the exceptional work of our dedicated frontline staff,” Ms Cross said.
“Nurses and Midwives are the healing hearts of our health service,” she said.
“Nurses and midwives are there 24 hours a day, seven days a week and you would be hard-pressed to find anyone who has not experienced care from our nurses and midwives.”
Ms Cross said there were more than 50,000 Nurses and Midwives in NSW Health’s hospitals and services that provided safe, quality care for the people of NSW.
“To support this important initiative, blue and purple hearts, representing the colours of nursing and midwifery, will pop up in hospitals around NSW in the form of stickers, posters and postcards.”
“Staff and the community are encouraged to post pictures of themselves wearing the stickers on social media, using the hashtags #everyperson and #exceptionalcare,” she said
