The NT Government is merging two vital organisations for the Territory’s tourism and events economy as part of its broader Rebuilding the Economy Strategy.

NT Major Events Company and Tourism NT will join under the same banner in an effort to streamline operations and enhance the Territory’s ability to market tourism and events with greater coordination and impact.

The reform builds on industry consultation and aligns with the government’s two-pronged policy direction of Restoring the Territory Lifestyle and Rebuilding the Economy.

“By bringing two skilled teams together under one brand, we can market the Territory more effectively, attract more visitors, and deliver stronger economic returns,” Minister for Tourism and Hospitality and Major Events Marie-Clare Boothby said.

”And importantly, by showcasing the Territory lifestyle, we can also encourage more people to call the NT home.”

The government said the move supported the rising demands of the Territory population, which grew by 1.3 per cent in the year to March, adding about 3500 people. The merger aims to build on this growth and momentum by bolstering the NT’s reputation as a place to live, visit, work and invest.

The integration seeks to deliver cross-promotion of tourism and events, expanding the reach of events such as the T20 International Cricket match, including NT events in Tourism NT agent and media programs and making major event tickets available through trade channels bundled with flights and tours.

“We want innovators, connectors and thought leaders who can provide transformational advice, anticipate national and global trends, and help shift the dial for the NT economically, reputationally and experientially,” Ms Boothby said.
