The Northern Territory’s CLP Government has opened the 2026 Men’s Places Grant Program on International Men’s Day, with this year’s Australian theme being “Supporting Men and Boys”.

Celebrated each year, Men’s Day is an opportunity to shine a light on the social challenges men and boys face, covering a broad spectrum of issues from leaving school to mental health.

In response to input from the community, the CLP Government has doubled the funding pool for 2026 to $200,000, with grants up to $20,000 available.

“On International Men’s Day, we celebrate the positive contributions Territory men and boys make every day – as fathers, sons, leaders, mentors and community members,” Minister for Youth, Seniors and Equality, Jinson Charls said.

“Men’s places play a vital role in creating safe, inclusive spaces where men can connect, share experiences and seek support without judgement. These grants help them deliver activities that improve mental health, build confidence and reduce social isolation.”

The Minister said that demand for the program has grown, leading to the doubling of the funding pool and an increase in the maximum grant amount. The investment is aimed at community-led initiatives.

Activities which can be funded include workshops, information sessions, peer-support groups, health and wellbeing initiatives, parenting programs and small purchases of equipment.

Pathfinders NT, a previous grant recipient, has successfully completed the Rite Path program in collaboration with IBC Community Services and OzFish Unlimited. The program has demonstrated positive outcomes for young men from 15 to 21.

The program combines yarning circles with a hike across the Jatbula Trail and a reintegration ceremony to strengthen resilience, identity and leadership.

“Grants like this help us tackle social and economic disadvantage through preventative programs, giving young people the confidence and support they need to walk their path with pride,” Pathfinders NT Managing Director Jessy Hall said.

“We’re especially proud to see our young leaders stepping forward -like our recent co-presenter at the Thrive Youth Summit – who shared how connection to nature, culture, and consistent mentors has helped him turn his life around. That’s the kind of change these grants make possible.”

Grants for the program close on 2 March 2026 and can be submitted via GrantsNT.
