The NSW Government has been named Australia’s most popular graduate employer for 2021 in the Australian Financial Review’s Top 100 Graduate Employers list.

Public Service Commissioner Kathrina Lo said the recognition reflected the hard work that went into making the NSW Government Graduate Program a success.

“By offering roles in regional and metropolitan areas, opportunities for further study and a legal stream for graduates wanting a legal career – we can offer graduates a rich and diverse experience they won’t get elsewhere,” Ms Lo said.

Minister for the Public Service, Don Harwin said graduates were key to the State’s ability to shape and change the future of NSW.

“NSW has a world class public service and the Graduate Program plays a substantial role in building and maintaining that standard,” Mr Harwin said.

“Because the Program seeks students from all disciplines and backgrounds, it ensures the Government workforce is as diverse as the community it serves,” he said.

Mr Harwin said that since the 18-month Program began in 2016, it had started the careers of more than 800 graduates.

“It accepts candidates from all backgrounds and offers a permanent role when graduates successfully complete the program,” the Minister said.

“From day one, it gives people an opportunity to work on diverse projects that contribute to making NSW a great place to live, work and visit,” he said.

Mr Harwin said applications for the 2022 NSW Government Graduate Program would be open in July.
