The next round of the Sport and Learn to Swim Vouchers is open from 1 July for Northern Territory families.
The vouchers help with the costs of activities to maintain children’s health and keep them active in the community and on the sports field.
The CLP Government has affirmed its support for the program, ensuring that every child aged five and older, enrolled in an urban Northern Territory school up to Year 12, is eligible for a $100 sports voucher every six months. There are more than 300 approved sports, recreation and cultural activities providers where the vouchers can be used.
Families with children under five can also access two $100 Learn to Swim Vouchers each year, helping to support children’s access to water safety skills and participation in swim school programs.
“We know the benefits of sport and active recreation go far beyond a playing field,” Minister for People, Sport and Culture Jinson Charls said.
”These vouchers help families stay connected to the activities they love and support the Territory lifestyle we all love.
“Active participation in sport, recreation, and cultural and swimming programs supports our kids’ health and wellbeing, keeps them busy, and builds confidence, friendships and resilience along the way.”
More than $4 million has been invested in 2025-26 for the Sport and Learn to Swim Voucher program in urban regions in the Northern Territory, with an additional $4.3 million for the Active Regional and Remote Communities Program (ARRCP) for the support of year-round rural sport, recreation and cultural programs.
Thousands of vouchers were redeemed across the Territory in 2024-25, in programs such as swimming, dance and music. More than 810 vouchers were redeemed through Football NT, mainly in Palmerston and Alice Springs.
