The Department of Communities is calling for nominations from people aged 18-to-25 who are interested in being Western Australia’s Youth Ambassadors for next year’s Youth Week WA celebrations.
In a statement, the Department said Youth Week WA was an annual celebration of the contributions young people made to their communities, giving them an opportunity to express their ideas, raise issues, and participate in a range of fun and educational activities.
“The WA Youth Ambassador is a volunteer role,” the Department said, “two Ambassadors will be selected to be part of the Young People’s Planning Committee for Youth Week and act as public spokespeople for Youth Week WA.”
“The two Ambassadors will also have proactive input into the design and delivery of events and strategies for Youth Week WA, help assess Youth Week grant applications, and attend events as a WA Youth Ambassador.”
Minister for Youth, Simone McGurk said the WA Youth Ambassadors program was a good way for young people to develop their leadership skills and highlight the issues that were important to young people across the State.
“It gives young people ownership and direction of Youth Week activities, ensuring Youth Week is planned by young people for young people,” Ms McGurk said.
Applications close on 9 July and further information can be accessed at this PS News link.
