The ACT has entered a partnership with the Federal Government to use the AustCyber National Network of Nodes to establish a new cyber security hub in Canberra to boost innovation and increase collaboration.
Minister for Advanced Technology, Mick Gentleman said the new hub would see the establishment of the Canberra Cyber Security Innovation Node which would in turn lift the city’s cyber security capability and competitiveness.
“Many of Australia’s top cyber security players are situated in Canberra, including businesses, national security agencies, and tertiary education and research institutions,” Mr Gentleman said.
“We are working with industry, schools and researchers to build a vibrant and competitive sector.”
He said the Canberra Node was established in 2017 as a partnership between AustCyber and the ACT Government.
It now joins five other State and Territory nodes across Australia.
Federal Minister for Industry, Science and Technology, Karen Andrews said the establishment of the Canberra Node was part of a national plan to grow the cyber security sector, create jobs, and build industry capability in local and global markets.
Manager of the Canberra Node, Linda Cavanagh said the city was uniquely placed as the home of Public Service decision makers, national security agencies, prime contractors and small to medium enterprises that deliver cyber security capabilities to the public and private sectors.
